TEACHER

Works with high-risk students who have been removed from a regular classroom/school due to emotional/behavior problems

                                                                       

QUALIFICATIONS:              1.         Kentucky Teaching Certificate and LBD Certification.

  1. Competence in subject area.  Ability and interest in teaching children and willingness to take suggestions.

 

REPORTS TO:                     Principal

 

JOB GOALS:                         As a primary function, the classroom teacher shall demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  1. Classroom instruction.
  2. Classroom management.
  3. Classroom supervision.
  4. Counseling.
  5. Contact with parents.
  6. Maintain professionalism.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Instruction

 

  1. Plan for delivery of the lesson relative to objectives found in the Kentucky Program of Studies and Core Content for Assessment.  A program of study should, as much as is possible, meet the individual needs, interests and the abilities of the students.

 

  1. Provide adequate learning experiences in the subjects taught to all the students assigned to his/her room. 

 

  1. Actively teach good study habits.

 

  1. Assist students in improving problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

 

  1. Monitor and check student progress toward objectives.

 

  1. Individualize instruction to meet the needs of the students.  Guides the learning process through the establishment of curriculum goals and develops clear objectives to meet the goals.

 

  1. Participate in the continuous assessment, development, and improvement of the curriculum.

 

  1. Select materials and supplies which are appropriate to the needs of the needs of            the students and the goals and objectives of the educational program.

 

  1. Employs a variety of instructional best practices and instructional    media/technology consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students.

 

  1. Teach the Kentucky Program of Studies and content identified by the building level curriculum committee.

 

  1. Use current data to improve and inform instruction.

 

  1. Continually provide positive reinforcement to all students to build their self-
