TITLE: Teacher (Substitute)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Appropriate certification from the state department of education; ability to develop learning skills of students such as problem solving/communication skills; ability to maintain good rapport with students, faculty and parents and ability to plan and organize to maximize an effective use of time.

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

JOB GOAL:  To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reports to the principal or his/her designee upon arrival at the school.

 

Reviews with the appropriate person all plans and schedules to be followed during the day.

 

Teaches the lesson(s) outlined and described in the lesson plan(s) prepared by the absent teacher.

 

Consults with principal or his/her designee before departing from the absent teacher’s lesson plan.

 

Assumes all responsibilities assumed by the absent teacher to include overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods and record keeping duties.

 

Report in writing, on the form provided at the school office, on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.

 

Complete form, provided at the school office, for payroll purposes.

 

Follows all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Term contract with specified beginning and ending dates as indicated in letter of employment.

 

EVALUATION:   Evaluation of the performance of this job will be based on a combination of self evaluation and supervisor’s evaluation according to the procedures developed for all district personnel.
